About Mother Wilderness

Here, you'll find more than birth support. You'll find a space where physiological birth is honoured, informed choice is celebrated, and women are reminded of the innate wisdom they have carried all along.

My Story

Hi! I'm Amy. My spirit name is Thunderbird Woman

I am a mother first - to my daughter and my son. They are my husband and my whole world, and they are the reason this work exists.

When we became parents, we made a conscious decision to build a life that revolved around our children, our family's natural rhythms, and the values we wanted to live by - not the other way around.

Motherhood didn't just change my life; it changed the direction of it.

I come from a lineage of remarkable women.

My maternal grandmother served as a nurse during World War II, courageously hiding Jewish people in the hospital as patients as part of the resistance. On my father's side, my great-grandmother was the traditional midwife - the wise woman - of her First Nation community, attending the vast majority of births throughout her lifetime. Looking back, it's no surprise that after becoming a mother myself, I left my career as an electrician to answer a different calling. This work has always lived within me. It is part of my lineage.

When I birthed my first baby, my daughter, something profound became clear to me.

Women do not simply give birth to babies.

They birth themselves.

Birth awakens parts of us that have been waiting to emerge. It reveals strengths we didn't know we possessed, wisdom we didn't know we carried, and gifts that belong not only to the child entering the world, but to the mother being born alongside them. Every baby has a mother waiting to become who she is meant to be.

Witnessing that transformation changed everything for me.

I knew then that my calling wasn't simply to support births - it was to walk beside women as they remembered who they are. To hold space as they stepped into their power, trusted their bodies, and embraced the profound transformation that birth offers.

To me, this has always been Women's work.

God's work.

Holy work.

Through Mother Wilderness, my hope is to help women reclaim what has always belonged to them: trust in their bodies, reverence for birth, connection to their wombs, respect for their cycles, and confidence in the wisdom they carry within.

One woman.

One birth.

One family at a time.

What Guides My Work

Birth is Physiological

Birth is designed to work. My role is to protect, support, and nurture the natural process while recognizing when medical care is needed.

Wisdom Lives Within Every Woman

Your intuition isn't something to find - it's something to remember. My work helps you reconnect with the wisdom you already carry.

Women Deserve Informed Choice

Knowledge is power. Every woman deserves evidence-based information so she can make decisions that align with her values.

Wisdom Lives Within Every Woman

I don't believe I hold the answers - I believe you do. I'm simply here to help you uncover and trust them.

Every Season of Womanhood Deserves Care

From fertility and pregnancy to birth, postpartum, and beyond, every transition deserves to be witnessed, honoured, and supported.

My Approach

I believe every woman deserves to feel informed, deeply supported, and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My role isn't to direct your birth, but to walk beside you - offering evidence-informed education, grounded presence, and wholehearted support so you can make decisions that align with your values and trust the wisdom of your own body.

Our journey begins long before labour. Through prenatal visits, ongoing text and phone support, and full access to my online birth and postpartum education, we'll prepare not only for the birth of your baby, but for your own transformation into motherhood. Together, we'll create a birth plan that reflects your hopes, strengthen your intuition, and ensure both you and your partner feel confident and prepared for the journey ahead.

When labour begins, I provide continuous support through active labour, birth, and the first hours postpartum, whether you're birthing at home or in the hospital. From comfort measures like movement, breathwork, massage, and positioning to simply holding steady space, my focus is helping you feel safe, seen, and supported.

If it feels aligned, I also weave ceremony into your journey through offerings such as a Mother's Blessing Way and a Closing of the Bones Ceremony, honouring birth as the sacred rite of passage it is. My support continues into postpartum through home visits, community, and ongoing care, so you feel nourished, connected, and never alone as you settle into life with your baby.

The Heart Behind Mother Wilderness

I dream of a world ...

Where women know their bodies are wise.

Where birth is met with confidence instead of fear.

Where families are surrounded by their village.

Where every mother feels seen, heard, & deeply supported.

And where birth knowledge & women's wisdom is common once again.

Mother Wilderness exists to help make that future possible - one family at a time.

Book a discovery call!

Whether you're preparing for your first birth, growing your family, or simply seeking support through another season of womanhood, I'd be honoured to walk beside you.
